Layouts and navigation

Arrow keys move focus in Grid, List, and Storyboard. They leave selection checkmarks where they are.

1. Layout, focus, and the Inspector.

   Shortcut	Action
   ⌘1	Grid layout.
   ⌘2	List layout.
   ⌘3	Storyboard layout.
   ← → ↑ ↓	Move focus one clip.
   Home	Jump to the first video.
   End	Jump to the last video.
   ⌘J	Scroll the focused clip back into view.
   ⌘I	Show or hide the Inspector.
   ⌥⌘T	Switch the Inspector preview between Still and Filmstrip.
   Return	Edit the focused video’s Title.
   1–5	Rate the Inspector’s current target, from one star to five.
   0	Clear that rating.
   Esc	Cancel Title editing, or stop playback.

2. The batch selection. Focus and the checkmarks stay independent.

   Shortcut	Action
   ⌘-click	Add that clip to the selection, or remove it.
   ⇧-click	Select the range from the last click through this clip.
   A	Add or remove the focused clip.
   ⌘A	Select every video in the current view.
   ⇧⌘A	Clear the selection.

Search, filters, and Play All

1. Search and the filter drawer. Quick and Advanced are tabs in the same drawer.

   Shortcut	Action
   ⌘F	Put the cursor in Search videos.
   ⇧⌘F	Open or close the filter drawer.
   ⌘⌥Q	Switch to the Quick tab. Opens the drawer if it is closed.
   ⌘⌥A	Switch to the Advanced tab. Opens the drawer if it is closed.
   ⌘⌥C	Clear all filters, on both tabs.
   ⇧⌘P	Play All through the current view.
   ⇧⌘S	Surprise Me! Jumps to one random video.
   ⇧⌘R	Shuffle the current view. Choose it again to reshuffle.

Playback

1. The player. Esc stops and saves the position. ⌃⌘F leaves full screen without stopping.

   Shortcut	Action
   Space	Play or pause the focused video.
   ⌥Space	Play from the beginning, ignoring the resume position.
   ⌥←	Skip back 15 seconds.
   ⌥→	Skip forward 15 seconds.
   ⌥⌘B	Bookmark the current position while playing.
   ⌃⌘C	Compact player, docked in the Inspector.
   ⌃⌘W	Windowed player.
   ⌃⌘F	Enter or leave full screen.
   Esc	Stop playback. The position is saved.
   ⌥⌘M	Make Thumbnail from Current Frame.
   ⌘↩	Play in External Player.

Files and metadata

1. Library and file commands. ⌘⌫ is Delete Video…, which moves the file to the Trash. Remove from Library leaves the file on disk.
